Itou Kaiji is a bum who steals car emblems and slashes tires on what seems to be a regular basis. This routine changes one day when he is paid a visit by a man in a trench-coat. Once the two get talking, it seems that the visitor (Calling himself Endou) is a debt collector. The reason for his visit is an unpaid loan which kaiji had previously co-signed for a work-mate (Furuhata Takeshi). The original loan was 30000 yen and once Takeshi had disappeared, the loan then fell on Kaiji.

Kaiji is then told of a way to clear the interest compounded debt (which stood at 3,850,000 yen), which involved getting on a boat with others in his position. Once on the boat the debtors would then have to gamble with loaned money, which would end with a few winning, and others getting into deeper debt and having to work to pay of their debts. After some coercing kaiji accepts a position on the boat, in order to clear himself and make a bit of money as well...

In the 18th century, seeking "freedom and equality", the event that became the starting point of modern French society, the French Revolution, began. There was one more protagonist that lived within the darkness, Henry Charles Sanson. He was the fourth generation family head of the Sanson Family, and executioner of Paris.
This is the historie of him nobly facing the harsh fate.

Riku Yoichi came from a long line of hunters and had high amounts of sexual energy which allowed him to be a great hunter. He moved away from his home town after middle school to demolish the Kirionira and was successful in finishing off the king and ending the battle forever. However, the peace came at the price of Yoichi losing his sex mojo.
Returning back to his home town, he soon learns that the demon invasion was not over, but without his sex drive, he is helpless to fight back. He tries convincing his childhood friend Namba Midori and her female classmates to get him sexually aroused, but they want nothing to do with it.

Despir Disease turns out to be due to the presence of Zeroms, the dream eating demons that are believed to only exist in fairy tale, inside a person's Spiria. The way to cure this disease is to link into their Spiria, called Spir Link, get pass the Spir Maze, the labyrinth created by the Spiria and defeat the Zerom before it consume all of that person's Spiria. This can only be accomplished by using Soma, the weapon which allow the person with strong Spiria to link into other people's Spiria and defeat Zeroms.

The story focuses on a young man, Shing Meteoryte. After his grandfather leave the quiet village where they lived in, Shing went down to the nearby beach, only to find two people lying unconscious ashore. Those two people turn out to be Kohak Hearts and her brother, Hisui Hearts. The meeting of Shing and Kohak sparks the start of his first adventure out of quiet village to the world...

Later on he accidentally meets other souls and tries to find out what actually happened to his sister. Apparently Volume 4 will be the last one.
