It happens far too often. They put it in the tragedy slop series. They put it in the generic fantasy series. They even put it in the wholesome series where there’s otherwise not a hint of misery anywhere else. I’m tired of having this ‘character assumed dead comes back for a bittersweet moment then permanently dies’ nonsense shoved down my throat. There’s better ways to develop a character if you’re that lazy, use them instead.
