Interestingly enough, I think the defense could have potentially argued self-defense or emotional response on the basis of perceived stalking and prior abuse. She clearly made an attempt to leave the household and get away from him, and yet he deliberately showed up at her place of work to confront her. I'm not sure if it would fly during this time period or in a country where filial piety is so strong, though.

  I believe S. Korea does not have a well-defined self defense law. And if this case were tried in a country that does, like the USA, that legal defense probably would not work. Self defense generally requires an imminent threat to oneself. Someone stalking you does not give you a right to assault them. They'd have to present a real and immediate danger (or at least a perceived danger). Unless this guy was violent towards her or had a weapon, she'd never pull off a self-defense claim even if it could be applied.

    The danger doesn't have to be real as long as the belief was credible. You're right, stalking probably wouldn't make it a proper defense on its own, but the man has a history of repeated physical violence against his family—a past history of assault against the client in this case—and entered the store drunk, which through his stalking behavior can be presumed due to seeking her out specifically rather than just accidental. If she didn't say anything about protecting the store and instead focused on how she was trying to protect herself, I'd assume it would either lessen or remove any punishment she received. The question is whether she used excessive force, but it seems like a single blow to the head with a hammer, and her using a weapon will likely be waved away because she's a younger female against an older male who has already been successfully physically abusive in the past.

      It's still not a defense that would work in court. The proper legal response to that situation is to call the police and to get a restraining order (assuming S. Korea even has restraining orders). What she did was assault. She could argue down the severity of the crime based on her fear and his history of violence. But she was not in a situation where she could ever argue self defense.

        Maybe. I definitely think she could have argued down the severity at the bare minimum—especially in states that are incredibly intolerant of domestic abuse—but it's harder to gauge if she could argue self-defense legitimately, especially since what happened in the store itself is a bit glossed over. I actually wanted to look up if there were some cases similar to this that could show whether it could or could not come to pass, but damned if it's not a pain to actually find and search for this stuff.

i did not think that i would like this manhwa this much. i thought that a support MC who needs to be in a group would be a boring story setup, but, boy, was i wrong.
the MC is kinda likable, the rest of the platoon as well. the the world setting is the typical game apocalypse genre, but it brings a breathe of fresh air since this manhwa seemed to anchor itself (somehow, albeit loosely) to reality.
they dont immediately resorted to killing(makes sense, since its just 2 weeks since the apocalypse, habits dies hard. majority of us dont even kill an animal).

i just wish that they would delve a bit deeper into magic/skills because it seemed to me like they all are not that curious to test it.
if can shoot a fireball, i sure as hell would limit test it to find exploits or increase in mastery or increase my mana/proficiency or whatever.

that being said, its an enjoyable read,and i recommend it to you guys.
