They may have done everything they could but they made something entirely different from the original game. Maybe decided above their pay grade, but still a huge insult to the fans.
Well that was the other thing, almost 20 years of angst, rumors, cancellations...And they end up with THAT? A cover shooter, and only able to carry TWO guns? The original Duke carried 9, right? If it's by Gearbox, that's even worse, Borderlands without mods, you can carry 4, with mods, you can carry 50--essentially a fully stocked gun pantry like this Manga has! Was this just practice for Borderlands?
This is getting a bit convoluted. MC is just furthering misunderstandings with miss Tang and he's not on top of the intel situation which is unexpected.
He doesn't lack ammo, all his guns are fully loaded, and even that power armor suit! It is limited Until he discovers he can trade crystals directly for CP and therefore ammo or new guns! Plus there's a kind of "What do you think you're doing?" when you use small-arms on an enemy the size of a B-29/A-10--that ignores magic sword attacks! No room for subtlety there!
Even for the biggest skinflint, survival>Dying with full bandoliers, right? And yes, I DO know about the guy who beat DOOM with just the pistol, but again, does this guy not care about his teammates? Were they just scripted to die to cause him extra angst, like some games do nowadays?
Worse than that, most games are "balanced" for paid players to have insurmountable advantages. The paid version loads faster, hits harder, etc.
Some even add extra annoying mechanics you can pay to bypass. I repeat: Charging you to "solve" a problem they caused in the first place!
