Honestly can't really say if the male did train or not, or if he's just using pure strength to overpower (I will assume that he is militia, or a merc which while yes usually will have a basic amount of training/fighting. And honestly I think the first Female fighter didn't have much training, but we're talking about a princess who ripped apart assassins and monsters so I would assume that she had SOME sort of training, so I think this part is just plot armor for the male and basically for the MC to show off if I'm being honest).

Usually in martial arts with weapons, weight classes doesn't exist the reason for that is you don't need to overpower an oppenent with a weapon. A sharp blade will cut a person who weights 200-300 lbs as easily as somebody who weights 100 lbs. Weight classes matters when it comes to a contest of strength such as Boxing, a lighter person will usually not be able to dmg a heavier weight classes effectively, or when sparring with wooden weapons locking the weapons together, but at the same time there are techniques for lighter fighters to use in situations like those so that they don't get overpowered such as parrying, dashing, and hopping. With Parrying you reduce the amount of strength somebody strikes your weapon with if done properly, dashing is using foot movements to close or widen the distances very quickly, and hopping is when fighting a stronger oppenent you basically do a small "hop" to use their strength to push yourself back so they can't lock you down like that.
