Playing in sports also appeals from a breeding/genetics pre-selection, the guy is in better physical shape from exercising regularly (lifting weights, running, etc), as a team player he shows he not only works in a group but has a social circle with other guys which if the girl becomes a part of would give her the option to expand her breeding potential as well (now she has access to multiple guys she can verify personally to see if they are potential mates). Keep in mind women are born but men are made, the jocks are a class of guys showing they are in the process of being made.



Most mangas would make guys all cucks and betas with their she's attracted to the "he's nice, he's kind, etc" crap they push (which repels women) and vilify the cocky, bully, etc type of guys women actually do want. Ironically many women don't want guys that are good for them though they delude themselves into thinking they know what would be good for them (ie the "bad boy"). Pick up any reading or video materials that women like on the type of guys they claim they don't want... but their selection of entertainment shows they really want. There was a reason in the past why men picked their daughter's husbands, many women are very self destructive when they allow emotions instead of logic pick their mates for them.

It could be entirely that she is testing him. And trying to learn more about how they can be a good couple. She nudges him all the time to break it off; that's guilt. IRL she gives him all the affection she has for treating her with respect and defend her from perverts.

It's makes sense it's so contradictory
