True, that might happen, though it would be better to introduce his reasons before taking him to his deathbed, putting him under a different light before he started the massacre would have been better, giving a character depth only when he is about to die causes some people to lose interest in him or, if not handled well, it just ends up ruining the flow of the fight. Doing so before the fight would cause the reader to feel some sort of conflict during the entirety of the fight, doing so upon or after his death has less of an impact on the reader.
It's not actually a problem, and this is also me being nitpicky, but it's natural for people to wish for the best possible outcome, even more so when it comes to such a good manhwa.
If he does repent though, it might actually be better to introduce his story later, guess only time can tell
