AlocDamasThis is an actual smart MC, no characters here are empty and the world building feels real, there's nothing of that brainrotted cliche of "all nobles are just pompous assholes", don't get me wrong, half of them still are, but even their pompousness feels real, like bunch of psychological duelists masking their ill intention with courteous words and not the cliche that the other stories represent of the noble crashing out just because he's a noble, this is a story which nobles are actually noble beings, and they have the actual power to act like, and the MC is one of them, he has humility but doesn't self deprecate, he knows he's has a status to maintain, or he will be "devoured" by his peers. The are two factions of nobles in this, the Military Faction and the Civil Faction, and they actually play a significant role in the narrative implicitly, the MC is just on the gray area of both factions, he is a good strategist and a good scholar, for example in the chapter 16 he feels like a "Issac Newton" of that world. The hero is kind of the typical shounen protagonist, kinda airheaded but he is a grounded character, he has a good personality but since he's a commoner, he is vulnerable to the noble's machinations, and THAT is the main task of the MC, not babysit him, but to ensure the hero maintain a status quo in being "free", and he does a good job in that department.
So far, the series is a 9.5/10, i wished this wasn't a low-fantasy (top tier individual magic is as good as shooting an arrow), but this is more of a personal taste, the translation is the only my true pet peeve because the names change a lot, not so much on the latter chapters.
