i like it more when the protagonist goes on a rampage

Those children are not "assets" of the church, they are free citizens of Tooran. Same goes for the sisters who are considered the staff of the Church, they are not owned or controlled by the Church. The very moment the merchant ordered his lackeys to seize the children, he and his lackeys became criminals, and the MC could have justifiably arrested or even killed them all depending on local laws. At that moment, the merchant's actions far exceeded predatory lending, and became kidnapping, which we already know for a fact is illegal in this country.

While a rampage would have guaranteed the children's freedom, and various kinds of consequences for the Merchant and his lackeys, the contract would still be legally binding and other representatives from the Merchant guild would still return and take the land and assets to settle the debts.

Feel free to call the MC stupid or reckless, but if being calm and composed means "not wanting trouble" like hundreds or thousands of other Japanese protagonists, then the scum Merchant kidnapper and his lackeys continue to walk the streets freely. I am personally so sick and tired of the "I don't want to cause trouble even if I'm ridiculously strong" types of cowardly characters.

Ideally this MC would evaporate the scum Merchant and his lackeys with fire (like he did with the 2 of Mike's guards before), or beat them senseless and ask either the Hunter, one of the Sisters, or the one armed fallen noble to call for the guards to come and pick up the beaten kidnappers, before turning to Sid and making a very clear offer.

Either accept the scales as repaying the debt, or take the Church and land minus Takuma's tools, and enjoy the poisonous fumes that rise up from underground once Takuma takes his tools back.

Takuma could easily make the case that he never formally donated his tools to the church, he was merely lending them, and he can take them back any time he so desires.

I think we all know which option Sid would choose, but of course the current Takuma isn't smart or decisive enough to do something like that.

Don't make the mistake of assuming that being "emotional" is bad. There is nothing wrong with being "emotional" when grown men try to round up and sell off small innocent children, in fact I would argue being emotionless during such a series of events would pose a much larger problem, but the real problem is when the emotional character also happens to be a short-sighted idiot, thanks to the Author's writing.

Even if the MC couldn't come up with a good plan on the spot, he could still act in stages. Instead of "trust me, I have a plan" type of characters, think of the "trust me, I can come up with a plan for settling the smaller issues after I finish dealing with these bad guys, one step at a time folks" type of characters. After all, not all "effective" heroes have to be the quick thinking types.

Ossan, stop trying to be a merchant, be a gladiator or adventure ,that suits you more. Your brain aren't that good, just give up.

Mc is such a weak ass bitch. He has anger issues and can't even think for a second. For an overpowered mc, he's got no balls and no meat to back the balls up. It's quite annoying watching him have a meltdown every chapter. He reminds me of a Karen more and more

Tbh there are doezens of isekai with calm and composed mc sometimes even too calm even on extreme situations. I would have loved a full on justified rage mode for a change. Especially when they deserve it
