not always, also depends on how the battles went. if one side slaughtered the other but didn't have enough men or time to go through it all they would leave it till the war is over. reclaiming equipment is a prize of the victor. in this case the victors had less men in each battle and tended to win just by tech advantage and leadership.

usually battlefields get remembered by the closest town of village too the battle and then you find it from there. also depends on where the battles were fought and the losses sustained. like Charlemagne Lost over 3000 soldiers crossing the pyrenes he coudln't go back to get the equipment, and the people who attacked him probably looted it but no one knows.

people would loot it if there was enough people around to loot it. from what we have seen the villages but depending on time constraints they might just have to throw all the bodies in a pit because of the decay.

honestly my problem with these sorts of show is how many people there are. in these battles and realistically they should just cut a 0 of the end
