The higher the stage of adapters the stronger you are, but they are more one trick ponies. To make up for the lack in powers, MC told them to basically get more skills (ex. Lightning god specializes in speed and lacked power, to make up for it he learned the fire guys skill, which lack speed but had power). And the awakeners basically say screw the whole system, we gonna just break the limits it placed on us (think saitama or Goku, people who say ima go against the grain and do it my way)

Adapter levels are clear 1, 2, 3, 4 etc until 15th level i think? At least that is what it seemed to have been said in a previous chapter.
After 4th level it becomes very time consuming to raise levels with many years of training needed so 5th stage adapters and above are considered high level adapters.

Then there are awakened people that don't go by the levels of the world. They break the rules of the world and create their own world. That is what the MC is.
It seems they have stages of first stage, second stage etc as well though based on the truth they discover about themselves. An awakened is more powerful than an adapter.
It will need a really high level adapter to compare to a low level awakened.
