The difference between convincing and coercing someone into doing something is the amount of pressure u put on the other person and how much/little u value their opinion on the matter. The way barnes presents/words his 'if I were in your position for the last 6 months' advice, it sounds more like implied coercing than convincing to me, and considering arwins prior actions and follow up thoughts to the conversation he would definitely not do well mentally if he felt like noelle only agreed to the marriage because he pressured her into it via 'convincing' her, regardless if she actually agreed to it genuinely and wholeheartedly or not. Hence why I said "I really really hope the author doesn't ruin arwins character by..." and not "i hope arwin doesn't do", neither persistent convincing nor coercing is something I would realistically deem him capable of, at least not to noelle and not without him haunting himself with long lasting guilt afterwards, so him doing so would feel more like author throwing out his current personality for shitty plot reasons to me. I also don't think Noelle would do well long term if they don't have a honest conversation about both her reasons for being against marriage and co, as well as his reasons why he wants the marriage. The way her inner conflict is presented, I feel like if she accepts the marriage without that conversation happening before the proposal, she will subconsciously use the way how the marriage came into existence as a precedent for taking her own opinion/doubts and happiness out of the equation whenever it's in a bigger conflict with arwins happiness or wants, not to forget that she also seems to have an inner conflict about how hypothetically her role as a wing and her role as wife/mother potentially could emotionally and mentally clash with one another. So following that thought process, I can't come to a conclusion where arwin and noelle would be longlastingly happy if their marriage came into existence via following barnes advice instead of having a thruout and honest conversation. Pls note that this doesn't mean I'm against their marriage by all means, just against them marrying without having major important stuff not sorted out within a truthful, honest conversation and them instead walking into marriage with major doubts, concerns, regrets and misunderstandings.

Ps: sorry for the length of the comment, it's close to 4am for me and the more I lack sleep the wordier and weirdly complex my sentence-structure gets.
