I think that's why before entering a school, we need to know the rules. Different schools have different rules. If all's clear, and a student bring something after knowing (and agreeing bc they still enrolled the school after knowing the rules), it's not weird when the school/teacher seized the thing. Usually it'll be given back when the school ends. If it's dormitory, usually it's given to the parents, or when the semester ends

Depends on the school's regulations actually. And when it's private school, especially the ones with dorm, it's stricter than public schools

I'm so sorry you had to experience that. As a teacher, I won't confiscate student's stuff unless it's really something forbidden by law or school standard or we already have agreement about something i.e. not using phone unless for emergency during class, and the students blatantly ignored those. I usually don't take action unless I caught them with my own eyes 👀
