I suspect the stream snipers will all cause their own losses and even though accidentally giving Almond the win, they can still spin it so it looks bad on him. So merchant tells the assassin that the target is OP and the assassin still tries for it? The others still tried for it? At that point, he's killed a master, learned the master's techniques to completion and has made other masters mysteriously disappear. Maybe I don't understand it since I'm not a "stupid high risk" type of gambler. What the merchant is asking and what he's giving as a reward is too unbalanced.

This was his only option considering he's 3v1 in that room and they already explicitly threatened his sister. With his attitude, he would not ask for help. Even though he is strong, he probably has insecurities about not only protecting his sister and being strong enough to leave.
