taking about the part around 45 with the kidnapping

only thing i can think of is that the shot to the eye was an angled shot so it took out the eye and did an exit without causing too much damage while the other 7 shots were more or less non lethal

the old art wasnt amazing bit it fit for the story this art more feels like its a cost cut and they went with a younger artist which resulted in it being really inconsistent and a bit wonky. hopefully they fix that and get it all consistent and fix the combat art but i have a weird feeling that its either going to be a few years before they change it or that the artist might changed again. there is also the third option which is getting axed which wouldnt be too surprising
