MMORPG in general have no durability on its weapon. Drop rate in real game is way more rate than in this manga(depends on rarity but great materials usually around less than 5%), hunting the monster to get certain materials is also usually have time gatekeep where you can only get materials in certain day of the week. Not to mention the weapon significant is no on the stats but usually on the addtional skill or enchantment which can give advantage to certain type of monster depends pr your roles in the game, so having multiple weapon for different kind of circumtances is prefer able. So the problem of good weapon is solved by the time you need to gather materials than the durability, a casual Player can spend weeks or months even years grinding for materials. Especially since a player usually have multiple characters that have different Jobs. So for a room dweller that have no life only playing games, maybe ot easy for them to grind weapon, but for casual Player it was difficult to obtain endgame level of weapon. Not to mention the regular update and expansion or patch that MMORPG have usually change the game giving them new weapon to craft or giving time limited event and materials. So the Player time can't only dedicated to grinding for weapon materials alone

I think just like all others thing that world, it goes by game logic. Also with the mc skill his ho would decreasing anyway, if his shield destroyed he 100% done.
