At first Bam chased her because he wanted the only person that cared for him back, his family, then after being betrayed by her he wanted to find her and ask her what her reasons were for betraying him, a normal reaction you can't love someone and then instantly hate that person for one thing they did, love doesn't work like that, he met her on the hell train station and crashed out when he heard an answer he didn't like and tried to reject it, understandable no one would like to hear from a person you love that you are less important than whatever they are doing. While on the hell train he tried digesting this answer but he still couldn't and subconsciously he wanted to get her back so he went through the hell train to find her that is untill he began seeing the consequences of chasing after her and started realizing he has another reason to climb the tower not just Rachel but also for himself, to find out about himself. When he told her "Goodbye Rachel" he was telling her he isn't chasing after her anymore and he now has his own reasons for climbing by the tower. The time they met again on the floor of death he had matured he told her to her face "we're enemies" meaning he has acknowledge the relationship they have now is different and if she gets in his way ogmf climbing the tower he will treat her just as she wanted, his enemy. At this point Bam saw Rachel as a different Rachel but she was still Rachel in his eyes just one he will have to compete against if she appears but in the hidden floor Bam gave Rachel a chance to compete as enemies for the thorn believing they should do it as enemies and now he's seen the consequences of keeping her around, he's realize they Rachel isn't there anymore and this is a person he doesn't understand neither does he want to understand her.
Before he saw her as a person he has to compete with but now she is a person he has to deal with a threat. Now that she is a threat him leaving her alive is his last act of mercy for her, the last grace he will give her for all the things she did for him in the past, and so he wishes to never meet her again because he does he will have to deal with this threat wholeheartedly.
It's a pretty solid progression for his character and I like it. Would I love to see Rachel dead right here and right now? Yes, would I love her to get a thrashing she would never forget and the squirm in agony? Yes, but for Bam's character his current choice is a good choice, not the best but still it's good
Maybe the story also got kinda boring at one point but that's all I remember hating about it. I don't think it a bad anime but I definitely won't recommend it to anyone.
