This biggest problem with your statement is that old man probably has been focusing on his skills the whole time while MC is working on a slew of skills. MC will get exponentially better the further he goes using passives that amplify each other ie tough skin, sturdy bones, natural defense. Just by having two creates a multiplier effect. However, that also means he has to level up more skills too otherwise he'd receive diminished returns.

Honestly, God Ye was nice to everyone on 2 separate occasions. When he offered to give people records for mats and when he sold strategies for mats. Everything else evil he has done is at a direct rebuttal to guilds trying to suppress him

realistically speaking
if they continue to work in the shadows, the guilds will still go after them
If they work out in the open, the guilds will still go after them
If they openly refute the claim, the guilds will still go after them while losing credibility
If they stop working with Ye Xiu, it will strain the relationship

At the end of the day, Ye Xiu will go to the next area when they are ready. If the guilds are on bad terms he may ask for higher protection money as he is in the advantageous position
