But in tournament arcs, you know that the fights are happening. You know who fought, who won, etc. but with this it all seems like they're happening in alternative universes and not in the same reality as there is no references to anything that's happened.

I actually forgot about the friends they've been so absent, seriously this is why the author shouldn't have set all these arcs in high school and had time skips and stuff cause its like have they gone through their story arc yet? Are they halfway through? Are they completely over it? Why isn't anyone talking about their experience? Is it happening at the same time or consecutively? Why aren't the homies as involved and supportive like they were in the first arc?
