well maybe she did gain some epiphany whilst cutting someone down, however she was mistaken in that the cutting down itself was what lead her to an epiphany. or maybe it did but she didn't realise epiphany's don't replicate the more you do the same thing over and over.

honestly now i just want to see his sis her reaction to what hijikata has become

i don't know i still found this to be a letdown, his fight with the lightning princess felt like two different worlds clashing, with her magic being a massive threat to him but his skill fighting people being the thing that kept him alive. meanwhile here they had two seemingly experienced adventurers double team him yet it felt like they were on the back foot the entire time, espescially by reading their facial expressions and rereading how they fought him one at a time through most of it. and even though everyone in the comment section here likes to scream they were using magic and he still beat them, were they really doing anything? like sure maybe to strengthen their bodies and speed but outside of the ice spears which honestly might have aswell could have not been used since it didn't do actual shit they didn't do use any magic on gutsie here. hell the fight with the less experienced members felt like watching a adult fight children if that. the most magical thing this entire fight outside the spears was him using a guy as a club and knocking several people out cold with him, i wonder how "skilled" you have to be at war to learn that. then again i guess he isn't a stranger to unconventional weaponry. all in all i still like this story and what it previously showed was fucking art, but i think this and the chapter before it were a step down to pointlessly beat some kids

only he's in a continent where everyone uses magic, and is unaware he can sense it. it's not so much skill and more that him being here where is incredibly favorable for him

kind of a let down they couldn't put up more of a fight, this felt way more of a plot-forced win for the protag than his fight with the lightning princess did
