i think it kinda works like the lacrima that the others have. once he gained the power it opened up a new vessel for him and since he is end and is a creation, he operates on different rules than the other dragon slyers or magicians. i also think the power to steal must target specific magics so if it didnt target lightning dragon slayer than it wont take it. it completely makes sense and i dont know why people are calling it an asspull. its just more of natsu having insane battle sense and knowing not to show your hand
