If I got it right, orv novel has Kim dojka explaining, reminiscing and remembering what happened, what Yoo jonghyuk did in 3 ways to survive novel in that stage. So, yeah it has bigger chunks. And orv novel has many of KD's dilemmas - his thinking through which he reach a decision - written in exquisite details.

As you said written form can convey more emotions. I agree and written can also explain and extrapolate a character's thinking in detail, which adds to charater too.
