You see he was humbled pretty hard last chapter. When Arthur was lying 'dead' near the corpse of retainer corpse. The elf captain had visions of grandeur, how if he brought this corpse which even lance died defeating, he might get credit and promoted to general level, become a lance. All this wetdream/daydream came crashing down when corpse autonomous defense system nearly killed him and then Arthur proceeds kill his soul verbally.
iirc a whole chapter was dedicated to it and initial part was from Elf captian's pov. So, we as reader gets front seat to feel how hard he was humbled. Also when arthur is haggard or frustated, arthur doesn't hold back. Even many asura have come in his killzone and boy it was enjoyable
