and while you can see that they are doing faces and the dragon animal form much differently than before which can be quite jarring, they so far seem rather restrained in their use of 3d assets so fingers crossed this new artists is going to be a trade up over the last one.

Not sure Makato can have kids with here given he is a hyuman, but root does refer to him as both a hyuman and a human so who knows what the original translation meant here.

Since they are talking about 1 one minute and the other the next while still referring to a guy who wants the MC to surrender

Well its nice to have confirmation that this is based on a LN, would love to be able to read it since this feels like such a poor adaptation of the work, with so many crucial details clearly missing or glossed over.
