yes, somewhat. The next Part is big speculation but im still gonna spoiler tag it. Jerry Biscuits here in the comments got it right, but i believe that the surgery on Ai with the Corpse of aikawa meant both personalties are still in tact thats why Ai switches with Aikawas self and takes controll, and i also think that ai was in a pinch at some point because of Risu's Curse which was triggered because again Ai took over Aikawas Body and killed Risu. I think he nearly got killed by Risus Curse and thats why he "jumped off somwhere" (there was a small flashback) and used ebisus smoke which he got from somewhere probably to mask himself changing his persona to that of kaiman and getting amnesia in the process ...
