Tbh i dont see a diference whether the fmc is completely obsequious nor the mmc. Even though i prefer equal pairs (in some ways equal), i still find one sided, dominant realationships enjoyable. Btw masachika is one of the mentally most unstable romcom mc's i know.

Wouldnt say the manga is this worse. Just a normal dude which is lacking a bit of confidence and has a great sense of moral.

I mean i kind of get why the author did like this cuz kuroikawa hasnt build any deep emotional connection with her. Atleast not as far as we know. Thats kind of annoying as well because normally, harems are from the centerpersons perspective whixh helps the watcher/reader understand his reasons to choose person A for example. Put tbh i would have prefered this to be a crazy plot twist than another chapter of "how blind can the male mc be".
