According to this the feathers are another good source of nitrogen. Considering they were gathering bird guano, they probably got a good stock of them( the feathers) and decided to try to compost them while drying the manure, allowing the manure's natural mircrobiome to break down the feathers into their base elements. Were they already inside once the arena's barrier was set up? That makes some sense as an event with so much nobility and such might need a special task force on stand by, but why the hell weren't they immediately suspicious once they saw antonov present but not actively helping contain the situation. How they dropped their guard as soon as they saw him, no matter what connection they had to him in the past, was awfully stupid.

I mean sure, I get that this is all symbolic serving as an example to strive forward inspite of the injustices in the world and inspite of the fact that hardwork won't nessecarily result in the best outcome, but in this setting where nothing is actually at stake the fact that this is all really just a play is really hard to ignore. still gets the point across but kinda cheapens the message to me.

and also Adel's philosophy on children needing conflict to grow is a little warped. Its true that children who are TOO sheltered can have stunted problem solving skill and also have a harder time coping with stressful situation because they have no practice doing so. That does not mean you should just watch has them ram their skull against a brick wall because "they haven't given up yet". There are situations that, because of their lack of wisdom, a child will set themselves on a path that is literally a dead end or will only cause them harm. In which case forcing them to give up turn around and retrace their steps before irreparable damage is done is the responsibility of their gaurdian(s).
