Ok so a while back clareen gave daisy some land situated between the liefman empire and a neighboring kingdom. Daisy knew this land had magic stones and began to mine them. This led them to rapidly gain a lot of money and renoun throughout the liefman empire. An old well known wizard tries to work with them in their magic stone endeavor but they refuse.
Unfortunately some of henstone's knights caused a large comotion ( i think they started a brawl with the neighboring kingdom's guards or something ) and ended up putting Dane in a lot of hot water with the neighboring kingdom, so much so, that he was arrested. So Daisy starts trying to prove his innocence. she collects evidence that the knights' drinks were tampered with, which is why they were sent into a frenzy and brings the young wizard to testify on the magic that was used.
trial comes and the old, well known wizard tries to smear Dane, but it is ultimately proven than he was behind the tampered drinks. At some point Daisy or the prince also realize he was in kahoots with the Liefman empress to frame Dane henstone, in order to revoke the rights of the territory with the magic stones from him and daisy. The old wizard is taken into custody, but at some point escapes and attacks the carriage with Dane and the prince in it afflicting them with a potent curse or something then (accidently?) kills himself.
Daisy, distressed, calls upon the young wizard to cure Dane and the prince's affliction promising him something for his pupil (can't remember exactly what). the young wizard accepts and i'm pretty sure that were the previous chapter left off.

TL;DR clareen gives daisy magic stone land, Empress and old wizard try to take land, Dane henstone gets arrested, Dane is proven innocent, old wizard gets busted then gets mad that he was caught and hurts Dane and the prince, daisy gets the young wizard to treat Dane and the prince

P.S. apologises for any messed up details.

I get what you mean and that trope does get pretty annoying, but there is no way an empathetic person( or any normal person really ) is going to be able to cope with catching and eating people. Up to this point the only person Kujo was able to even reluctantly rationalize eating was a completely hopeless random guy he and co. found dying in the woods. Considering MC's character him just accepting eating someone else without some type of mental buffer ( they were already dying, they tried to kill him first, they were evil, etc. ) is kind of inconceivable, at least at this point of the story, even though the world/situation he's in does call for that level of ruthlessness.
