And with the special eyes, that granted let her see things that most other people can't, that little bit of variety on the trope is lost and now we're just following a little girl with her sister and dog-man guardian. It'll still be a good story, most likely, and have things to enjoy about it... But when the leading expectation of a story is lost, the things that came after feel just a bit hollow to me

Honestly, I find it really annoying when one side comes up with a plan only to have the opposing side figure it out within the SAME CHAPTER
Like yeah, I get the whole "Oh no, what's going to happen now?!" suspense, but c'mon.

On a potentially unrelated note, it made me think of a writing tip I recently heard. "Tell your readers the plan if you want it to fail. Don't tell them the plan if you want it to succeed."
I might be seeing that tip play out in real time.
