True but what I mean is his cultivation was peak 7th when he was still a General and with the power of plot, people just know he's 8th (or lu shengs second nature of showing off revealed it)

Thats a lot of text but I somewhat agree, I had the same thoughts.
The pope (king) can't do much because their power is still partially controlled by nobles in a monarchy (because its not a dictatorship or a violent religion)
I hate these kinds of political behaviour that make no sense in manhwa but unfortunately its partially grounded regarding the powers of nobles and the king.
The actions are stupidly dumb though, and so is mc who really wants the heros to go to his academy for some reason and forgetting branches exist....

I went all the way back yo chapter 133 where he was a peak 7th (it's in the chapter) and read from there till here to find out when he became 8th but lord heavens above is it difficult to find out anything when everything is so vague. It's not clear if he actually became 8th till I read this is chapter 171

A general rank is 7th and a commander rank is 8th, so lu sheng being called a commander in chap 171 says he's 8th rank unless there's some tomfoolery
He didn't condense the 3 wills after chapter 133 so he doesn't need it for 8th, it was probably for 7th

Not really sure, its always been vague but I remember him condensing when he was 6th or 7th , I forgot the requirement to reach 8th again, I just know he reached 8th
