Also, he bent the rules of the challenge using the bow in the way he did. I still agree he shouldn't have won that easily. That being said, I would rather it be like this than have a 3 chapter fight scene just for level one.

He could have handled it with more skill, yes, but if you can open a jar the normal way you will. No one goes to the effort of banging a jar on the counter unless they struggled to open the jar regularly first.

When you have the saintess giving you a "personal" blessing, you could probably brute force it too. This arc itself is a setup for other arcs with that power now in the toolbox.

If I recall correctly, this is a "Ready Player One" set up where whoever completes the main quest inherits the creator's entire fortune.
