Anyway, 1st chap 1st page is not the same game but just an example of trash game, just after, he says that "tower of trials" is a VR game of the same category, witch is a trash game, because of its difficulty. I think it's more of a "sword art online" type of VR, where you get transported into a virtual world. At chap 9 he says how nostalgic he is about the scene and the "scent" of the labyrinth.
