In the opening armory scene, I suddenly had high hopes that this 10-weapon demon style keeps evolving to the point he can equip like 1,000 weapons at once and basically turn invincible through buffs.

Actually, it's not natural. Books are terribly hard to burn. Especially packed into shelves like that. They're even denser than the original wood and simply do not burn efficiently at all. So I have several issues with this scene.
1. The fire getting to that size before ANYONE noticed? Puh-lease2. Acting like the books were an accelerant? Puhleeeease (Seriously go grab a phone book and throw it in a fire and it'll just sit there and smolder for days. I once did a property clean out in a very remote area, so EVERYTHING went into a giant, week-long firepit - glass, paper/wood, metal, plastic. This hoarder had like 100 years and 52 states worth of phone books and after a WHOLE WEEK in the fire, basically only the outsides of ones on the top of the pile burned).

I knew this was going to happen and fictional story or not, it takes a special sort of evil to burn knowledge
