Yeah, the aliens kinda did it for me, too. Same as Mansion in Apocalypse World. They seem to be a later stage story evolution for a lot of manhua... And I don't know why.
Guessing it's a "throw everything at the wall, see what sticks" kind of play, but it's still really annoying.
The tl groups thing happens so often, I try to blank it out. It actually works some of the time...
