The way I see it there's two types of meanings in this world, the natural and the human.

Depends on the animal and how their digestive system works. Humans are omnivorous by nature so it's best they have balanced diet of both so they get everything they need, while say a cat is strictly carnivores as they aren't capable of properly digesting plant matter. It also depends on what their body is used to eating
