You are completely correct but the main problem is that in order to entrust his tasks to others they need to know the initial truth(regression, end of the world, etc) but He Can Tell No One. He cannot explain why he's acting the way he is nor does he feel like he can ask for help. He is not physically powerful like many regressors so it all leads to an internal isolation tied with a crippling desperation to do as much as much possible before it's too late and it's fine because No One should ever understand what burden he is meant to carry (bro is in perfectionist hell tbh 😂)
