Coming back to this to say...she was not safe and thereby was also not comfortable at all. Her reaction of crying for a week was perfectly valid as a child's defense mechanism and the sequence of events that followed that original timeline only holds fault with the greed of people around them and the induced ignorance caused by these people.
How sad that they never had a third party looking out for both of them properly after the loss of their parents.
