So MC will have to never be reborn in in order to stop darkness? It seems like MC will need to self sacrifice to prevent the worlds destruction anyway, not like it matters much with MC facing the worlds and personal destruction anyway.

But something is going to keep MC and company in existence, I think MC and company will live in the special dimensions preserved from whatever MC self destruction.

Alternatively MC becomes the tree on the moon and brings back everyone? Probably not. But those extra dimensions and the tree on the moon will both probably play a pivotal role and preserving them.
