No, but on a serious note, I'm really pleased that the author is actually giving the parents emotions and showing how they cope with them instead of going with the normal route of parents in every story - either overly loving and making them completely blank as a character or then it's the opposite and the parents are abusive. The father has always been one of my favourite characters especially on the novel seeing more deep how he thinks and handles this situation and his feelings. It's human to not be able to accept everything at the get go, but to process those emotions. It doesn't make the parents unloving if they have freaking own emotions outside of their love for their child and are ready to be completely okay, or pretend to be okay, as soon as they hear something shocking. What makes them loving is how they are processing it, are they overcoming their feelings that might at the start maybe be more negative, how do they act towards the child. While they acted, well, not greatly, and it's unfortunate that they had to part (although I'm pleased with that because of the next arc) immediately after Arthur left the father is showing remorse on how he acted.

yeah, in the physical sense he's their son, however , i think she or both are more concerned about the soul part, whether he switched out souls with their actual son or not. Like, when something is being born, based on their thinking, a soul is assigned, hell even irl most of us humans might think that when a child is born they were assigned that child by some mysterious force. but neither irl or in this story verse has it been proven or not. so they were close to on the lines of souls being assigned to a body and Arthur or whatever event might have pushed their assigned son's soul out the way for Arthur. Who real knows, hell, soul could follow the whole after you die your soul gets washed of your passed life and is sent to live again and Arthur's soul wasn't washed properly before his next destination or everything is random, no one knows but we still try to make logical sense to it cause we're initiatively scared of not knowing stuff

I do think this is a bad example. While one is about the child's sexual identity, the other is about 'the child who they thought they are teaching everything about the world about is actually older than them, is from another world they didn't even could begin to imagine, having a possibility that in the way maybe their own child died and someone else took over'. A better example would be that two babies were accidentally swapped - now do the parents stop loving the child they raised and long for their own flesh and blood. And yes, in the story Arthur is of course still their flesh and blood. Back to this gay thing, I generally don't like that people tend to take something really sensitive and try to compare those to things that are fictional. For starters, because it's so highly emotional it's common that people are not open to not listen to reasoning, but have their own solid ground that most know is right, but still even talking about it in more depth is deemed wrong. Again, not even comparable to this situation, not only because of fiction and reality, but because it just honestly is too different.

Actually this isn't a bad comparison. In both examples it is about the parents being confronted about something fundamental and unchangeable with the child's identity. If they are accepting of this to keep their child are reject it's identity also leads to a similar outcome.
