You might be too idealistic, but I really enjoy your pov. too much manga/manwha/manhua go for the antihero route without really establishing someone's character or just pulling a random person as the MC. I think having a "normal person" as a MC can be refreshing or fun, thoughtful or introspective at times especially in writing that aims to reveal more about the human condition as a whole.

On the other hand, sometimes excellence must be demanded of a MC. A "hero" or an ideal rather than a more realistic flawed person. But I agree with your perspective that many authors/artists underestimate the brilliance an individual could have, as well as the depravity an individual can exhibit. And this is reflected in their writing, with more mild, 2d characters, motivations. Or the opposite can happen.

Personally, I enjoy reading about a MC, not as the protagonist of the world, but rather as a MC of a story. Because the protagonist of the world ought to be "perfect" in some, or multiple aspects- in power, intelligence, or morality. A lot of people underestimate how hard it is to stay on the right path, and I think many realize after they fall off of it what could have been, how hard it is to have done everything they could have done, to have given it their all for something they believed in with no regrets. So a protagonist of the world would only have regrets over things out of their own control.

A protagonist of the world would really be beautiful. But as someone with many regrets, as someone who will continue to accumulate those regrets I want to see people fall to depravity as well. And to conquer it, as the protagonist of their own story and their own needs, instead of the protagonist of the world, of something the world needs, or the greater good. I want to see their failure, and to see whether or not they triumph over themselves.

Probably because I'm a slime draped over a chair, the only parts of me defined being rigid fingers pouring over a keyboard. A keyboard warrior.
