And you're right! Regardless if roman was or wasn't there, he himself didn't think of the answer on his own.

But I'd argue that if my teacher told me to solve a complex question all on my own, I probably wouldn't be able to answer it. So when the teacher gives me a massive clue, like the formula for the question, I wouldn't say that I could solve the question without help, but I did solve it by myself. But I guess it wouldnt be all on my own so that could be disregarded

He wasn't. He was remembering the words of Roman from earlier which was shown that way for readers understanding. Or else he wouldn't be able to make that conclusion.

Let's take an analogy, (Don't say you would know the answer. This is an imaginary situation where you know numbers but not addition.)
If there's a question 3+1
If someone said 2+1=3
Then you could logically use that conclusion and add a one to the question since 1 is added to the left, therefore by adding 1 to the right
2(+1) +1 = 3(+1)
3+1=4

This conclusion comes from the fact you first understood that adding a one moves the result to the next number allowing for a conclusion
What you're saying is as if you didn't know an algebra sum and your teacher appeared in your mind and solves half of it for you without you knowing how to solve it.

Conclusion: No. It is not learning on his own, he just remembered Roman's words. Not hallucinated Roman.
