And were back, what should we call this, I think the term was “filler”? Well I don’t know enough about the internal politics of publishing a work with a following with this one, either with the distributor or the fans. I don’t care either way if it means better storyboards plot arcsin the future. I guess the alternative would be a delayed release schedule, and while the optics are definitely better, even if it dilutes the work a little at this point, I do know most hiatuses seem to come from either exhaustion or overuse injuries. I don’t follow many manwha/manga’s but I guess not everyone is in the blessed position Yoshiro Togashi is in, and I would just hope such a choice doesn't mean down the road when the content is solid that a hiatus is forced.

Nevermind the sideseat driving of screaming meta things like MC is an idiot, the women are useless, he fails as a gamer. It's actually all symptoms of one core problem: MC has no character. He's not GIVEN a characterization before the world goes to shit, so as a result, there's no barometer for his actions.

Now aside and mind, yes there are extremely-stupid decisions made as the plot progresses that does indeed reinforce the argument that OP is missing a brain. In truth, it's what I said to start with—MC starts with zero actual character, is thrust into a kill-to-survive scenario with a Re:Zero gimmick minus all the fun, but it all goes absolutely nowhere as a result.

Contrast with Escaflowne. That MC, HItomi, shows what's on her plate before the adventure begins. Spirited girl, athletic, a fan of tarot, wants to impress her senpai enough that he'll go out with er and kiss her. We get a TON of actual cues that establish who Hitomi is and what her standing in the world is before that world gets turned on its ear and she's dropped into Gaia and the middle of a massive war. But here?

He works. It can't be a black company because his coworkers have some semblance of spirit. The manager is a hottie and also soft on him for potentially-romantic reasons. Does he game? We don't know. Does he like cutlery? Don't know. Hiking as a hobby? Dunno. Can he drink? Apparently since he gets killed going home while shitfaced. And...that's it. That's all we know of this Milquetoast McSameFace before shit hits the fan. And it's just not enough. Thusly, I can barely call all the resulting sharp 180s of character, dips into depressive moping, bouts of stoic badassery, and so on, any kind of right or wrong. Because there's no bar to measure it against.

The main female had more characterization than he did. At least, she did until she got pegged full-force into the "I must support you but only when convenient" waifey role so hard and fast that it actually DID break her characterization on several occasions. And she had enough character that I could safely make that statement.

So that's issue one. Issue two is the format: The deaths carry no weight because the [Return From Tartarus] skill has ZERO plot drawbacks. In fact, it's too good. Given how he goes from depressed to stoic, there is actually zero believable reason for the milquetoast MC to have not just spent tens of thousands of lives grinding to the point where he's actually Superman, then trapeze all over the place, killing the other bosses. The bosses themselves serve no significance other than being there and making things slightly tense. Slight, but not really. Again, see the big meta problem with a Return-from-death skill that has no downsides.

tl;dr I appreciate that you read this far, but seriously just go reread Solo Leveling.

What evidence do you see that the yellow headband people are evil?

I didn't say anyone else had a rightful claim to the treasure either. Just that MC didn't. I don't think there is ever a cause for torture, and if there would be, it would be when it could save someones life or something, assuming it would even do that since torturing for information is notoriously unreliable. Instead MC solely driven by greed, greatly tortured someone. Even one of those acupuncture pocks is suppose to be the worst kind of pain and MC did it thrice. Makes me rather hate the MC a bit and by extension dislike the story.
