I’m interested to see what happens in the next chapter. How you put certain enemies down for good varies. Thugs/killers with violence, business competitors with bankruptcy or depriving them of their ability to compete (though in some parts of the world it feels like violence is always accepted as the answer). However, now we have Iljin standing on the doorway if the congressman’s office wearing his ass kicking face and his identity clearly exposed. This isn’t sub-saharan Africa or Russia even prior to Putin’s total control, nor is this the location or time for a public figure to be mozambiqued or for a good throat slitting. So what’s the plan here? The right way to deal with such an opponent who’s a public figure is information control and dissemination (tossing the gangster’s office and gathering their “insurance” against the congressman, taking that then distributing copies. If you went to see the congressman leveraging that for more under a pretext of blackmail, or gathering more “admissible” so the public can lynch him. You don’t break a few fingers on such a guy and presume they’ll give up the likely off-site (if there is any) information that will lead to their total demise. Nor do you threaten term for their misdeeds, but lead them capable of acting (see second Trump term, ahh fuck you hyper-polarization). Guys like that just get mote dangerous the more they feel threatened, or are put in an unstable position. Iljin is scary now, but give it a couple days and a prick like the congressman will be thinking, “How dare he?”. So what’s the move? Buy time with the collectible evidence which can obviously not be expected to bury him 6 feet under let alone the expected 12 feet? That’ll just antagonize him. After all, he works through abusing the loopholes and corruption in the system. Turn him over and let his “partner’s in crime” with legitimate facades see to hum? That still leaves iljin as a loose end. So what to do. Should be interesting. I think we’ve all seen the fictional aftermath, which is true enough, of what happens when you waltz into the continental dining room and shoot your target in the head. Things get “complicated”.
