    pls ... don't remind me .... the pain is awful .... I had just finished catching up about a month or so ago then I read at the bottom of the LN translation .... "Sorry but we will no longer be translating the LN due to the fact it has been officially serialized" .... NOW I CAN'T READ ABOUT LEON, LIVIA, ANGELICA, AND MILAINE!!!!!!!!!!!! THE UNFAIRNESS OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .... however, the fact that the author is now officially getting paid means he/she is gonna continue the work but still ... now I have to pay to read the rest of it ;-;

This classic damsel in distress that is livia is a really pain in the ass. Leon has been the enemy of the whole academy since day 1 and that crown prince ex-fiance chick (forgot her name) has been hated fairly recently and she still can't trust them ? Then either cut ties with them and live your own life or trust them and stop being such a bitch. Damn.

First, Tomer is a not-within-the-inner-circle side character, her getting a backstory that is actually shown over the span of multiple chapters instead of being summarized in one halfassed sentence is far better treatment than what most side characters get.
Second, accidentally killing someone in a situation as we got presented isn't that uncommon, especially in highly emotional conflicts, like for example if one parent threatens to take away their child from the other parent.
Third, the mom's "shallow motivations" does perfectly fit into a r/InsaneParents post with it's "my child is my property, I can do with it whatever I want and it will have to be eternally understanding and grateful to me about it" mindset, there are enough posts and reposts there showing parents attempting/doing similar or worse shit to their kids, ranging from all colors of abuse to parents trying to marry off their barely teenage (grand)daughters to middleage men.
Forth, considering point nr1, how much more build up for a side characters backstory do u need? A full season? A whole spinn off? So many that u can complain in the comment section about all the ppl ranting how the x amounts of chapters of flashback are way too much? The author's storytelling cat has been circling the plate of porridge called truth for multiple chapters. If it's so "painfully mediocre" for u that a side character doesn't get main character treatment in a story that they aren't the main character of, go and find urself a minimum 5-10 plus volumes novel series where every volume has at least 600 pages, those usually have a high chance to dedicate one full volume to one of their side characters right after their prior volume ended on a major cliffhanger.
