Rip. Isn't this basically converatives believing the old way is the best way? Like the American civil war? I don't know much about politics or history, so i am backing out of this

  It reminded me the Fables of Æsop, The Dog and the Wolf, in which the discussion is about the comfort brought by servility or the freedom despite the misery. There, the skinny wolf prefer the misery and the freedom instead of the shackles around the fat dog.
  
  Here, the rats made the "dog's" choice.

    The only problem is that they're not skinny wolfs but rats. Choosing to be the "dog" especially in the environment like Gyser is the most reasonable choice. Especially since they're lucky to serve a master like Naga labyrinth.

      You missed the point of the comment.
      The choice is
      1. Freedom but a hard life
      2. Do whatever the nagas tell them to but a safer life
      Both are uncertain because they have no idea if the nagas will let them live comfortably or not, while being free they would have to rat around like what they are already doing but there will be no home to go back to.

  In any other fantasy setting the old rat would be right, but here the rats are mostly scouts and are able to use their full potential for their dungeon community. The other rats also know that they are totally outclassed. Both of them want better lives for their family, but one is more realistic and the other has to face the fact that freedom means everybody can decide how they want to live.
  
  Also they don't have to fear the Nagas, but ...

    The only reason the old rat is wrong in this setting is because his fighting for nothing.
    He wants freedom even if they struggle to survive but there is no motivation behind it for many of the new rats because life is good. They are mostly free.
    Struggling for freedom makes sense when you are oppressed but not when you aren't.
    The Naga labyrinth already treats them like family and provides a decent life for them. Therefore why try to be free from something good?
    
    His dreaming of having his own labyrinth but for the horned rats nothing will change even if they had a labyrinth and the power to defend it.
    The only one that will have changed conditions will be him and him alone because he wouldn't have to take any order from anyone since he will be the ruler.
    All the other rats will still have to work hard to keep their labyrinth going and they will have to take orders from the one that governs them.
    So nothing different than the Naga labyrinth. So why go threw all the torture and uncertainty of trying to make such labyrinth work when they already have it?
    They have it because they aren't treated as inferior slaves but as part of the Naga labyrinth. They are members of the labyrinth just as everyone and like they would be if they had their own labyrinth. Their lives are already respected.
    
    In the end the only one that will change conditions will be him and his family. Therefore the true motivation behind it all was nothing more than a struggle for his own selfish grandeur. He wanted to rule and have others under him. He liked being on that stage yelling his speeches and having everyone follow him and praise him.
    He wanted to be king in the king's place. He wanted his descendants to be kings in the king's place. He dreamed of the golden throne and lost the side of reality.
    He was already on his way to be what accused the Naga labyrinth to be. Someone that will throw the lives of others away for his benefit and if he got to rule he will be a dictator that will treat his kind worse than the Nagas.

        Tbf the south wins slavery still exists today, they lost now the only slaves America has are in their prisons.
        
        But you’re right to some degree, there were a number of motivations for the south. Slavery being one of them. Racism definitely in there. A lust for power too.

  Honestly 20 bucks is betting that the Sleeper Rat is ambushed by something random, like another monster or something and that little horned Rat joins the enemy. Maybe the little horned Rat could join one of the "allied" labyrinths on the 9th floors where MC is and might actually turn one or more of the labyrinths against the MC.

Damn this was a real good chapter. The eternal debate between freedom and safety, which is right... that is ultimately up to the individual and it truly depends on the situation you find yourself in.

The only mistake the 'freedom' rats made was, they did not actually desire freedom even if that was the core tenet of their ideology and push for revolution, but what they wanted to do was to try and usurp the Naga labyrinth, this would have likely doomed their entire race, even the rats who did not wish to betray the Nagas.

If they actually desired freedom I believe they could have asked MC to let them go, let them be free and he would have granted them their wish, but because Morth got megalomania he was unable or unwilling to actually become free, he did not desire to become the bottom of the food chain again which is what freedom would have ultimately cost them.

  Not only that but they basically had freedom. They have just as much rights as any Naga even if the labyrinth is called the Naga labyrinth. They are treated like friends and family and get rewarded for their efforts while their lives are respected.
  Even if they had their own labyrinth nothing will be better in terms of how free they will be able to act or anything.
  Having their ruler be a rat wouldn't change that he will still order them to do things to keep the labyrinth going.
  
  So basically their revolution was a revolution of racism. They just didn't want to be with those Naga's. Those were the rats that grew to despise other species because they lived by experiencing racism since other races treated them like inferior and threw their lives away. But even when things got good and they had another species that treated them equally they couldn't move on and kept harboring the feelings of racism inside them against anyone different because they grew a hate in their hearts due to their lived experiences that the newer generation didn't need to have.
  By cutting them off and not letting them spread their hate to the new generations of rats they are cutting the circle of hate.

stop the monologue it'd be close to impossible to be able to over come species difference no matter how high your rank gets, that's the difference between monsters as well as individuals unless you absorb other species' racial capabilities and/or stats and/or get skills that are not accessible from hard work or your race, as well as evolve your species... you'd never win

  I guess he was betting on their ability to grow numbers. Big enough numbers are a power in itself but don't really work when the power difference is that big. The MC alone could kill them by the thousands.
  Is like a 10 million army with rocks and stone knifes in their hands trying to take a 1000 army with tanks and gatling guns and rockets. Even if they are 10 million they will just be slaughtered.
