I've known that for a while, but probably I like it because it shows the kind of life you'd see only in the seedy underbelly of a nation. Not like, 'assassin dude isekai (yes, both of them)' seedy, just pure malice, the unspoken underworld, all that, shown in fragments as if the narrator themselves cannot grasp every bit of each character's Identity, simply putting it together like a jigsaw puzzle. It's really satisfying to watch him murder because we don't need much more of a reason at this point, he's just f*cking bonkers which bodes perfectly with the context of the world, which is that everyone has dark, dark secrets that they'd rather not show to anyone. This ain't some light-hearted revenge rape time-reverse thing, this isn't even high fantasy, this is something than can, and most probably has already, happened in real life at some point. Not in the exact same sequence, but similarly enough.
